Have you ever received an invitation to have lunch with a friend by email and emailed back that would be cool, see you there not at 11:15 AM but at 1:15 PM.  And then received a confirmation email agreeing to the new time?

I have.

In fact it was today.   1:15 PM and here is where we will meet.

I ran an errand to the bank and then we were off to our lunch with friends.

Got to the restaurant, the parking lot was packed.  I mean packed.  But luckily for us there was a single handicapped spot left and I backed our van into the spot.  Lowered the ramp and in we went.

We were 5 minutes early.  Found a table and I went close to the front to wait for our friends.

I waited.

I waited a little more.

I waited and checked the time.  20 minutes had gone by so our friends should have been there by then.

I waited another 10 minutes, well past the appointed time, and decided I would check and check on what was going on.  Made the call.  So lucky to have a cell phone.

“Hello, this is _ ___ ________.  I responded ” Hi, – - – -, Norm, where are you?”   (I called his cell phone)

“Home”, he answered.   “Were are you?”

“At the restaurant”, I  noted “waiting for you guys”.

“It will be a long wait”  he chuckled,  ” Our lunch is tomorrow ! “

On returning home I looked at the email again.  There are listings of times, but absolutely no mention of, today…tomorrow…or day.

I guess Karen and I just made the wrong assumption

At least we know what we’ll have for lunch tomorrow and with whom.

The lunch on the 18th was good, but not at the PB&C. We decided since we’d be really having lunch there Tuesday, the 19th, we didn’t want to eat there two days in a row.

The lunch on the 19th, at the PB&C was good and it was nice to see our friends and have lunch with them. Several of the employees of the PB&C recognized me and said, “You back again?” And I told them my story.
