Apparently we Like Elephants.
My wife’s mom sent her a picture today of when the Circus visited Morgan City, LA when she was younger.

Seeing that, I remembered when the Circus came to Phoenix, in the day I worked for KRUX and I got to ride the lead Elephant from the Circus Train to the State Fair Grounds where the circus was going to perform.

I can remember the ride, not the smoothest, not like riding a horse, but it was fun. There in my white Jump suit with a Green K R U X on the back. I bought that, not the station. I think that was the only time I wore it. Don’t know where I got the hat. Radio History.
The President is Coming.
The metro Phoenix area is going to see a fly over by Air Force One, all of it’s own tomorrow (Wednesday evening). President Obama is to give the commencement speech at ASU in Tempe.
The Local media has been reporting this story ever day for at least the past two weeks. The reports make the listener, viewer, think that it’s happening that very moment. Not that it’s going to be happening tomorrow night.
Last Friday we were told on the 10 O’clock News that a support plane had been parked at Sky Harbor. It brings the limo and other vehicles that make up the motorcade when the President travels on the ground. I wonder if they just might be several of these planes that are sent days before the President goes a calling.

As to what is going to happen. Very quickly, AF-One will touch down @ 5:15 PM, a motorcade will take the President to the ASU Stadium in time for his speech at @ 8:00 PM, then he will be whisk back to AF-One, at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, and by@ 9:30 PM, AF-One will take off. During the time AF-One is on the ground and I believe an hour before and an hour after, Air traffic in the Phoenix area will be limited. Oh yes, the same is true of traffic on the ground, roads in and around the stadium will be closed to normal traffic.
I plan to stay home, so I should not be effected. However we can see AF-One land, if it comes in from the East. And if it takes off to the East, we will see it again.
I have asked that a Pest Company be here in the morning, to fumigate the outside of our house.
Can’t be too careful being that close to such a vermin.
New Stuff.
I spent part of today just looking on the Internet and taking a look at all the new cameras that are coming out.
I’m a big fan of video cameras, but also purchased a digital still camera a couple years ago and found that it’s capable of recording almost a full hour of video. Now the video is in the 4.3 format, which is the “standard” video that is more or less old hat. It’s been replaced by 16.9 and 16.9 in HD.

Well those cameras I’m talking about today are DSLRs and are capable of shooting in 16.9 and in HD. They take great pics in 16.9 with a resolution of 10 to 12 mega pixels and HD video as well. One even has the capability of having professional mikes added for audio. The other two have built in mikes that leave the audio lacking just a little. Of course when you start adding capabilities like that, you watch the prices go up.
One of the cameras is from Canon, one from Panasonic, and one from Nikon.
The camera from Canon has the ability to have professional mikes for audio.
Maybe one of my blogs will tell why this makes a big difference when recording video.
Have a good day!
Norm
