Voting in the Rain.

There was a Municipal Election in Scottsdale today.

It rained in Scottsdale today.  And it was raining hard just when we went to vote.  We got to the school where we normally vote.  Now it’s closed this week, but the ballot sent to us by the city, said that’s where we were to go.

We Did.

With the rain coming down in sheets we turned on the street that the school is on.

There were no “Vote Here” signs.  Not a one.

We drove into the parking lot and the gates in the fence between the parking lot and the school were all closed.  We drove by the building where we normally vote.  We could see nothing through the rain and the red fence.

We went home.  Looked at the official ballot again, and sure enough the school was listed as where we were to go.  We called the city.

Well we were told that the school indeed was where we were to vote, and that the signs were up and people were voting.   OK….We drove back.

Again, no signs could be found.  There were maybe 4 cars in the lot.  Still no gates were open.  I drove to the very end of the lot and there was a single gate open.  I parked in the “Plant Manager’s” spot, so that Karen wouldn’t get wet.

Passing three ducks walking between the fence and the school building who were quacking with each step, we opened a door to a school room.

Inside, much to our surprise, voting booths.

We voted and left.   I made sure the city knew that there were no signs, and it was very hard to see that it was indeed a voting place.

As for people voting, Karen and I were number 31 and number 32.  Not what anyone would call a big turn out.

(If you would like to see what I mean, I have pictures on normradio.com today.)  Take a look.
