The kitchen floor is finally being installed today, and the hall way leading to my office is blocked with a washer and dryer, so for now I’m blocked from leaving my office.

It was last Saturday, that the reunion was held from KRUX, a radio station I worked for in the mid 60s. We had a good turnout, considering that there was little public PR about it. The auditorium it was held in, was almost totally filled.

I got to thinking about those days and how much I liked working with equipment. It was what I would consider one of those technology jobs , back then the rules were much different than today, although with computers and such, the technology has advanced even further.

Back then there was a need for person to actually run the equipment. Today, a radio station can run itself, from the programing to the transmitters.

No wonder I still like the “Good Old Days”.

We are still waiting to get full use of our Kitchen back. It’s 90% there, but the floor still has to be installed.

Personally, had it not been more or less completed under the coverage of our home owner’s policy, I think I would have taken a look at Elkay sinks to replace the sink that was in the house when I moved in 13 or so years ago.

I also would have replaced the counter tops as well. There is nothing wrong with them, they just don’t match the new cabinets, that replaced the old ones that had been damaged.

I’m one of those people who like things to go together.

First of all, thanks to about a half a dozen who responded with emails about God Save Arizona. The thoughts and comments are all appreciated. Those of you who didn’t respond, and that’s not a problem, might be interested in knowing that I didn’t receive one negative comment.

Last night our house was hit by what the weathermen on the local TV call “Micro-bursts”.

All of a sudden the roof was pelted with heavy rain, the view out our windows was a heavy white gray and you could hardly see to the street or the back fence. The “Micro-burst” lasted maybe 5 or 6 minutes, then there was a steady rain fall.

The noise was loud. The pelting rain was heavy. The Wind was a howl and loud. And we could hear what sounded like flapping on our roof.

Being waterproof, I went out front to see if our roof was still there.

It was. But I found in our front yard what looked like asphalt from the roof. Not one piece, not two, but at least a dozen and they were across the street and two doors down.

And the street was filled with water speeding West to East toward the end of our block.

I went out back, ant there I found , the roof on our patio, ripped up. It wasn’t all gone, but enough that water was coming through the boards onto the patio itself. Chairs and other things near the outside wall of the house, normally dry, were soaking wet.

You get the picture, patio roof gone. I’m happy that I don’t have my antennas up, cause most likely knowing my “Luck” at least one of them would have thought it was an arrow and been found sticking out of Somebody’s roof a block away, or maybe through their front window.

Maybe I should build a basement and put the antennas down there.

In just 11 days, there is going to be a reunion of the DJs from the 60s and 70s on the Number One Rock Radio Station, here in Phoenix, KRUX.

I remember those days because it was one of the best jobs I held during my broadcast career.

I’m looking forward to the Public Event that is going to be held in the Auditorium at the Main Scottsdale Public Library, which is next to the Scottsdale Stadium on August 28TH, starting at 1PM. For me it’s going to be fun to see some of the other announcers who I worked with over 45 years ago.

On 5/28/2010 we discovered water on the floor in the hall way just outside the door leading to the Hot Water Heater.

Well it wasn’t long before we uncovered that it was not a problem with the Hot Water Heater itself, but a pipe that was in the wall behind the kitchen sink and it had a gaping hole in it, and water was pouring out.

Within about an hour we had a crew on sight, setting up not one dehumidifier, but several to take the built up moisture out of the walls and cabinets. After several days, they were removed and the walls were more like normal but the cabinets had to be taken out and replaced.

Today we were to have a new vinyl floor put in, but there was a problem with the order and the wrong vinyl was brought out. So no new floor.

That will have to wait until the 17Th. Luckily, it’s August 17Th, not September 17Th.

That might get me a little angry.
