I’m not going to tell Her.

We have had a Hummingbird Feeder in our back yard for several years.  And most of the time we can look out and see Humming Birds feeding from it.  On Saturday, I looked out the Dinning Room window and to my surprise there was not a Humming Bird but a Wood Pecker there, feeding away.

I was not going to tell her that the feeder was for Humming Birds.

She didn’t seem to mind that it was not a Wood Pecker Feeder.

Out of the Hospital.

My wife Karen was in the Hospital last week.  That’s right she was there on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day as well.  She came home, Sunday night, December 26, 2010

The nursing staff was so nice to her, while she was there.  I don’t mean to leave out anyone, the aides too where top notch.  That must be  some duty going through medical job listings to keep a facility like that staffed all the time.

Home at Last.

My sweet wife Karen got home from the Hospital shortly before 5 tonight.

It’s so nice to have her home.

Christmas 2010

This year’s Christmas  has been different.  This is the first Christmas since 1999 that Karen and I have not been together.

Let me clarify that.  She is in the hospital and had surgery yesterday morning.  She was told that if she felt like it, she could come home yesterday, but she did not feel like coming home.

I spent most of yesterday at the hospital learning how to fall asleep in surgical waiting rooms.  Also how to fill them up when there is no one but yourself there.  Both I found that I was pretty good at.  Didn’t have to work at it very much.  Just be myself.

Christmas Eve alone, without Karen was do able, but not much fun.  Easier for me, without the pain that she had, but not fun.

I do feel blessed though, Karen was with me in my heart as I know I was with her.

Merry Christmas.

Needed Addition.

We have a Patio in our back yard and the way I think something that is needed is wind chimes .

My Fathers hide away in the mountains about an hour outside of Denver had them on the cabins and I always used to love to hear them when the wine would come up.  What I liked was that the wind did not have to be gale force to add such a pleasing sound to the cabin both inside and out.

There is no reason that adding one to our patio wouldn’t do the same here.

Look what I found.

I found a bunch of pictures of my house back when I first met my wife.  I took them to send to her because she didn’t live here in Scottsdale, and I wanted her to see what the house was like.

It was a combination of modern furniture as well as hand me downs, and some give a ways from friends of my family.  It was a little hard to really classify it as one type or another.

I was happy with it, since 99 per cent of the time, I was all by myself, so what did it matter?

One of those days.

This morning my wife woke me up just after 3 AM, asking that she be taken to the hospital as her heart was racing.    She was in the ER room within 30 minutes.  That might not seem fast to you, but it was considering she is in a wheelchair and I had to get dressed, dress her, and then drive to the hospital.

Once in the ER, one of the first things I noticed was a barcode scanner , there in the area where my wife was examined.  They put a name tag on her wrist, and took the scanner and ran it over the tag.  I guess they were checking to see if the correct information that had just come from their computer had been issued on to the tag.

I also notice in room she went to in ER, each person who came in, check the tag with portable scanners.

I have to tell you, I really don’t like going to hospitals, even with all the fun techno stuff they have.

Can’t get out of my Office

The kitchen floor is finally being installed today, and the hall way leading to my office is blocked with a washer and dryer, so for now I’m blocked from leaving my office.

It was last Saturday, that the reunion was held from KRUX, a radio station I worked for in the mid 60s.  We had a good turnout, considering that there was little public PR about it.  The auditorium it was held in, was almost totally filled.

I got to thinking about those days and how much I liked working with equipment.  It was what I would consider one of those technology jobs , back then the rules were much different than today,  although with computers and such, the technology has advanced even further.

Back then there was a need for person to actually run the equipment.  Today, a radio station can run itself, from the programing to the transmitters.

No wonder I still like the  “Good Old Days”.

Still Waiting

We are still waiting to get full use of our Kitchen back.  It’s 90% there, but the floor still has to be installed.

Personally, had it not been more or less completed under the coverage of our home owner’s policy, I think I would have taken a look at Elkay sinks to replace the sink that was in the house when I moved in 13 or so years ago.

I also would have replaced the counter tops as well.  There is nothing wrong with them, they just don’t match the new cabinets, that replaced the old ones that had been damaged.

I’m one of those people who like things to go together.
