Something that works.

If you have followed my blogs, here and on www.normradio.com, you know that I have been battling a weight problem.

I have brought it down a great deal in the past few years, lately though, I  find  my weight is up one week, only to be down the next.

Phentermine, would most likely work. I however have found something as effective, at least in my book, having the kitchen sink spring a leak and have the counters torn out, leaving absolutely no place to prepare a meal.

There isn’t even enough room to make a Peanut Butter Sandwich.

I wonder if I could live on bags of Potato Chips….?

Here at home.

Our water is off this morning as the kitchen is torn apart and the appliances are removed.  Why?  as I told you Friday, we found a leak behind the kitchen sink and dishwater.  And now begins the process to fix the problem.

With the water off, I have realized that I like taking a shower.  I have dry skin and after taking a shower I feel good.  Now I don’t have that dry a skin, I will never be a poster boy and appear in eczema photos , but it can bother me ever so little.

Its funny, with the water off, all I’m thinking about requires water.  Had it been on, I would have never thought that I had to use water.

You think this time with the water shut off will show up in my water bill this month from the City of Scottsdale?

I didn’t either.

Memorial Day 2010

Getting up this morning, I took a moment to pray to God about those men and women of the American Services who have protected the peace of the World and upheld the Freedom of this country.  I am very thankful for all that they have done.

To me, it’s very humbling.

While I don’t think today that those thoughts will not be far from my mind, especial with several emails coming that remind of the importance of today from people just like you and me, and I have had one from Arizona Governor Jan Brewer as well.

That got me thinking about a Memorial Day Parade I went to back in Denver.  It was just before I came to Arizona for High School, so that was a long time ago.  Those were the days as a kid I had acne, and was a little embarrassed by it.  But, even then, I seem to take things in stride, after a little time of letting it get to me.  Happy that I don’t today have a need for adult acne treatment.

I loved going to downtown Denver to see Parades.  There was something special about being there on the sidewalk with all the tall buildings on either side.

It was exciting to me, when the American Flag would be carried by an honor guard, I can remember standing up and putting my hand on my heart, to salute as it was marched by.

We are blessed to live here in the United States.

I want to build.

For a house in the city, we have a good sized back yard. And when we think of adding to our house, our first choice would be there.

In my mind, adding a new Master Bedroom suite with Large Walk-in Closet, Bathroom and Laundry Room would be the way to go. I have also been thinking of adding an office for Karen with at least one, maybe two walls of glass to use the Arizona Sun to it’s fullest.

We all ready have a Patio back there, and there is enough room to build around it and I would certainly look at outdoor fireplaces .   Adding one would be a welcome addition to our house.

My only question at this point, do I have a RICH Uncle who thinks of me as his favorite and is in his 90s?

Living Room

There is only a fan in our living room.  That’s it.  It at least has a light in it should there be a need to brighten things up.

You know what would look nice in our house?  A chandelier in our dinning room.  There is a light above our dinning table, but I don’t consider it to be a “chandelier”.    It’s just a simple hanging lamp in which I have put 4 CFI bulbs.

During the day, with a window and glass door only a few feet away, it doesn’t get turned on very often.  Even on days like today when the sky is gray with clouds.

And at night, Karen and I have a tendency to eat and watch TV at the same time.  That doesn’t mean we don’t use it, just don’t use it that often.

Over the weekend I ran into a couple that Karen and I had not seen in at least 6 months.

As we started talking, we seemed to separate, the wife carrying on a conversation with me, and the husband and Karen talking about his job and what had been happening to him.  (All good I found out later)

My conversation with the wife, was about where they had been, out of Arizona on a extended vacation, and then she told me, to my surprise,

She was pregnant.

Of course I told her that I was happy for the two of them, and then she started asking me questions about my two kids and what it had been like.  And did I remember what it had been like for my first wife during her pregnancy?  Did I have any suggestions?

My mind went blank.  I only remember that there were no major or minor for that matter problems.  For what ever reason, and this really isn’t me, felt embarrassed for myself.   I shouldn’t have, we have know these two for almost as look at Karen and I have been married, almost 12 years.

What I should have done, as a “Senior” who has done it all, and knows everything….HA…Ha, told her how to handle pregnancy and that she should look into prenatal vitamins, and buying baby furniture.

Karen and I had a laugh later yesterday, as we talked and how funny it was for me to have come to a blank considering what a joyous event the conversation was about.   I had been through it twice and don’t usually get embarrassed talking about anything.

Worth Voting For.

Thought that you might want to take a look at Scottsdale Politics and a candidate worth voting for.
