Memorial Day 2010

Getting up this morning, I took a moment to pray to God about those men and women of the American Services who have protected the peace of the World and upheld the Freedom of this country.  I am very thankful for all that they have done.

To me, it’s very humbling.

While I don’t think today that those thoughts will not be far from my mind, especial with several emails coming that remind of the importance of today from people just like you and me, and I have had one from Arizona Governor Jan Brewer as well.

That got me thinking about a Memorial Day Parade I went to back in Denver.  It was just before I came to Arizona for High School, so that was a long time ago.  Those were the days as a kid I had acne, and was a little embarrassed by it.  But, even then, I seem to take things in stride, after a little time of letting it get to me.  Happy that I don’t today have a need for adult acne treatment.

I loved going to downtown Denver to see Parades.  There was something special about being there on the sidewalk with all the tall buildings on either side.

It was exciting to me, when the American Flag would be carried by an honor guard, I can remember standing up and putting my hand on my heart, to salute as it was marched by.

We are blessed to live here in the United States.
