Indy 500

Today the Indy 500 was held and televised and I didn’t see one minute of it.

Growing up in Denver, as a teen I would run out to one of our cars just to listen to the radio coverage of the Indy 500.

I would sit there alone but thrilled to be able to hear the voice of Sid CollinsĀ  live from the racetrack.

But today, I knew it was being held, but it’s not the same thing to sit and watch the race on TV.

No were near the excitement that Sid Collins had in his voice year after year as the voice of the Indy.

Sid Collins

Even watching in HD could not even come close to the joy and wonderment I felt back then, sitting in the passengers seat of a car and listening to live coverage of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing”.
